Winter & Your Brain

Brains are more active when the weather is nice, than during the winter months. Winter is a time for rest; it’s a time when our bodies go into hibernation and to save energy for the long winter ahead. The few reasons for this are the lack of sunshine along with not moving around as much since we spend a lot more time indoors. This leads to less stimulus in the brain and fewer mental activities.

The brain is like a muscle, it works best when it’s rested. Our brains are far more active in the summer than in the winter. So, how can we work on our brain in the winter to keep it active and engaged? PUZZLES! You may think that puzzles are easy, but puzzles are the hardest thing for the brain. Puzzles require the brain to do things it wasn’t trained to do.
